Isabela & Aguada Today

These are some pictures I downloaded using "Google Earth". I think these photos are probably a few years old. You can click on them to enlarge. You can download the free software to see these views at  http://earth.google.com/

From the satellite images it looks as though the barracks and admin building are no longer there.  It appears the transmitter wings and the power plant remain.

Dean Glace (ETN2 when at Isabela) gave me some information on Aguada. He was in charge of the Aguada site (Antenna and Transmitter) working for SPAWARSYSCEN (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center) Charleston for about 12 years. He reports that all the stations are now being run by contractors.  There are no military at the sites.  He was incharge of all the VLF/LF sites through-out the world and also had an HF group that did all the transmitter upgrades and antenna modernization at Aguada.  The Aguada site is now being run and controlled through Andrews Air Force base by the Air Force.

I also found more information here: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/aguada.htm
